Counselling & Psychotherapy
Counselling can help if you are experiencing a bereavement, relationship breakdowns, repeatedly falling into a cycle of dysfunctional behaviour, childhood trauma's like physical, emotional and negligent abuse. You might like to learn coping strategies when struggling with anxiety, depression, stress with family members or work colleagues. If you have never had counselling you might wonder what it is like? We would work together with any issues you bring into the sessions, it might change week to week or it might have a focus. It's through talking, exploring, querying issues that will lead you to find the answer, I am providing a space where you can do that.
Psychotherapy is usually medium to long term therapy, where deep trauma's can be explored. An area that would benefit from psychotherapy is sexual abuse, where it will take time for the client to trust the therapist. When the client feels like they can trust the therapist, they can then start working deeply into their trauma. The whole person (body, feelings, mind, sexuality and spirituality) are explored deeply and bravely. A client can be seen more than once a week, this would be agreed collectively with the therapist.
Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah said (sas) "He whom Allah intends good, He makes him to suffer from some affliction". Al-Bukhari.
That affliction can be grief, loss, trauma, abuse, poverty and Islamic counselling would provide the space to work through your issues while maintaining a close relationship to Allah. Kindly remember, "There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also created its treatment". (Hadith).
I would coach by looking at the present, where you would like to be, where are your gaps, what action will help you reach your goal and then review it. The focus is for you to reach your potential, by setting achievable building blocks. The more you achieve your target, the more your confidence and trust in yourself will increase. I would provide a space where you can make mistakes, learn from them, try different things and change your mind. What to Expect
You can book a free 20 minutes consultation by clicking on the Book icon. I will then contact you to discuss what issues you would like to explore in therapy and if we are a good match? If we decide to work together, we would agree on a fixed day and time. There would be a form that you would fill in, which we would go through in the first session. Due to covid19 my sessions would be online either on zoom, skype or whatsapp. When infection rates are lower we can discuss meeting face to face or continue online.
